After a few days of looking for our last key to our vehicle, we decided to call ETA Locksmith to find out what the process would take to get a new key made without a key to copy from. Does my key need to be programmed?

Most keys today are transponder keys, and these need to be programmed to your vehicle to work. Since 1992 all vehicles have been manufactured with immobilised systems that require keys to be programmed. However, in some instances, vehicles manufactured before 1992 will use simple metal keys that do not require programming.
